THIS IS IMPORTANT! - ANNOUNCER INFO DUE MAY 17!

The “Information for Announcers Scripts” is the form the announcers use to describe your entry as you pass by. Describe how your entry relates to or depicts the theme in one or two sentences about your organization.

Also, at the May 17th meeting, we will be announcing the Grand Marshal and the T-Shirt Logo Winner.

2012 Parade Association Service Project!

The association will be collecting teddy bears to support Arlington Memorial Hospital’s Teddy Bear Clinic program, which serves local kindergarten classes. Round up new or gently loved stuffed bears and bring them to the May or June general meetings.

We will also be collecting teddy bears at the parade. For more info, email us at info@arlington4th.org.

Remember! All Entries Need an ENTRY MARSHAL!

What does an entry marshal do anyway?

ENTRY MARSHAL DUTIES ARE:

Know parade rules for your entry and ensure compliance. You may download a copy of the rules from our website, www.arlington4th.org.

Be available to parade officials for relaying information to your entry in the assembly area and along the parade route.

Make sure that entry number is properly placed on your entry.

Keep your entry together and organized in the lineup area.

Accompany your entry during the parade.

Control entry speed on the parade route to maintain interval between your entry and units before and after.Maintain about a 20 – 30 foot interval with the next entry. If a gap develops close it up.

Ensure the safety of your entry and entry participants. Be safe!

The May General Meeting is always an exciting one! It features the public debut of the 2012 T-shirt Design and recognition of the student design winner. We will also announce the Grand Marshal of the 2012 Parade. All in all, this is a meeting that you won’t want to miss! We will be sharing more info about details of the parade and you will have the opportunity to turn in your announcer scripts. And it’s not too late to sign up if you haven’t already done so!

We also hope you will consider helping out with our service project we are conducting in conjunction with Arlington Memorial Hospital. Read the details above!

Eyes on Arlington

Recently, the “Eyes on Arlington” section of the Star Telegram ran a piece and mentioned the parade. We thank them for their continued sponsorship of the parade. We’ve included a clip below from the article along with a link to the full page.

Show your patriotic pride. Nothing says you love America more than being a part of Arlington’s 4th of July parade. Believed to be the largest parade in North Texas, the impressive procession perennially includes all sorts of amazing entries. And the deadline for getting your spot in the lineup is coming up on May 1.

According to the parade website, those registering an entry between May 2 and June 1 (the absolute deadline) will have to pay a $25 late entry charge.

Maybe this is the year your business, church, neighborhood or scout group, civic or charitable cause or hobby should be represented in the parade. Make a lasting memory by joining the lineup of bands, cars, bikes, floats, twirlers, cheerleaders, dancers, walkers, horses and many other wonderful participants that thrill the more than 30,000 spectators each year.

Website Theme Update

We are aware the theme to the site does not currently match the theme of the parade. We apologize for the delay as our designer had some major life events happen causing a slow down. The site will be updated shortly to reflect this years theme. We appreciate your patience.

2012 Application Has Been Posted

The 2012 Application has been posted online as well as a new “Information for Announcers” form that replaces the publicity information form. We’ve updated this to reflect the information we need to write a proper script that complies with the rules with out requiring a back and forth to make sure it fits.

We were also planning on having PayPal setup to accept the entry fees but unfortunately did not get it setup in time. Look for it next year along with a more streamlined application/publicity process and a few other nice things to make the parade even better!!!

Get the applications flowing and we look forward to seeing you this year in the 2012 Arlington 4th Of July Parade!

New General Meeting Locations!!!!!

Our general meeting location has changed. We have 4 meetings scheduled for this year:

March 15
April 19
May 17
June 21

All at 7p.m located at Arlington City Hall, third floor, Council Briefing Room. They are no longer held at the central library.

The June 21st, MANDATORY meeting, will be held in the City Council Chambers at 7p.m..
